The ideal candidate will be:
• familiar with open source internet technologies;
• skilled in development of secure internet applications and databases (including MySQL, PHP, CSS, XHTML, XML, Java, Javascript, Ruby on Rails, as appropriate);
• experienced in migration of Access and/or FileMaker databases to the web.

ArtsPond.ca is a social enterprise providing networking & information management services to Canadian artists & administrators in the visual, performing, media & interdisciplinary arts. Scheduled for launch in 2011, ArtsPond.ca consists of free and fee-based modules that facilitate creative and managerial workflow while fostering deeper connections for artists in the community.

Call for Fashion Designers

On March 4, 2010 Balanche Communication & Events will be launching “BRIGHT NIGHT - Dining & Fashion in the Dark” at O.Noir to raise funds for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

We are inviting designers to create garments for visually impaired people by incorporating their interpretation of Braille, or incorporating textured garments in their collection.

Participation Details
• Each designer may submit up to 4 pieces.
• All garment concepts & illustrations must be submitted by January 11, 2010.
• All garments must be produced by February 12th, 2010.

How to apply?
• Designers must apply to participate by December 14, 2009 at charanya.bala@balanche.ca
• Designers must submit a small sample of your portfolio / previous collection along with application.

New show looking to cast food lovers!

Artistic Outreach Director
Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival

The Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival is seeking a volunteer to be the Artistic Outreach Director (AOD). The AOD will initiate contacts with artists and their liaisons in the community who are eligible for festival participation. The AOD will be required to attend a planning meeting with staff twice a month and work approx. 5 hours a week. Great for current students.

 - Initiate contact with community film and video artists to solicit festival participation
 - Working with other staff members to brainstorm festival plans
 - Responsible for executing the T-24 Project

Candidates must demonstrate:
 - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, displaying diplomacy and pleasant conversation manners
 - Excellent email etiquette and work as an excellent team player
 - Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
